Activity report January-march 2012

French teaching 

The first session of the year began in January with 49 students divided into seven levels.

AECHF has organized for the first time the exams of DELF A1 for 37 pupils  from two schools in Dura, west of Hebron.


The extra pedagogical activities

 17 students in French manifested to  benefit  from a short stay in France from 30/6 to 21/7 . Please indicate us as soon as possible and preferably before 30/4 if you are interested in receiving young people during this period.

Capucine Belmont, a student of anthropology and a trainee at the association, took over the conversation courses after  Yasmina Abbad departure.

During the week of " La Francophonie", there was a large diversity of activities organized in cooperation with the linguistic service of the French general consulate and the students of the French minor at Hebron University:

Workshops carried out during the previous week during the classes about the ten words of the Francophonie

25/3 The participation of our students ( 20s )  in the day of Francophonie carried out by the students of the university: presentation of the association, cake competition …

 

Prize giving by Herve Conan, the office director of the French Agency of Development for the prize-winners of the competition organized by AFD which was about the theme of sustainable development, together with an exposition about the same theme.

Cultural  activities:

2 expositions were presented during the last three months:

 

-   Photographs and portraits of Velerie JOUVE/Djamel TATAH thanks  to the network of French Institute (the new designation of the cultural centers following the reform carried out by the French ministry for foreign affairs )

- “Objectif développementé organized by the French Agency for Deveopment  for its 70 years.

Activities for children:

810 book have been borrowied during the period by 194 children. Its organizer prepared with Tamer institution a diversity of activities for the reading week beginning of April.

The toy library received 108 children during the period and the garden received 232.

231 children participated in manual activities (decorative objects…) in which the are the creativity development, free expression, reinforcement of motivation, of confidence, and detection of talents.


The music classes organized by Edward Said Academy continued for 30 students (15 boys and 15 girls).

The courses of school support had a pause of 2 weeks in January during the winter vacation and they resumed at the end of January. The parents of the concerned 30 children were implicated in the following of their children by the social assistance.

Social aid:

During the first trimester, the social assistants received 113 persons; 7 had health problems, 7 persons had psychological problems, 24 persons had economical problems and the rest had diversified problems.

3 families who receive children and whom the AFPS sponsor by el Usra association received the visit of the social assistants.

The social assistants participated in workshops with Al Rowwad association which were about the subject of cultural expression, with the YMCA about the subject of social support of urgency and with the national community of summer campus for the preparation of coming summer camps 2012.

Delegations– meetings:

the third conference of the cooperation Franco-Palestinian took place in Hebron between 22 -24 January. It was inaugurated by M. de Raincourt, the minister charged of cooperation. The Hebron-France Association of Cultural Exchange was present and it participated in discussion about the tourism development and the heritage

The organizers asked  the association to organize a visit to the old city for about 200 participants.

25 January, in the same framework, FSGT and AFD organized at the association a video projection followed by a debate about "sportive culture, education, development in the lands in conflicts".

13 February, the association a delegation from the journalism school of the university of Strasbourg who came to prepare a training course for about 50 students to 5 cities of the west bank. They will produce a magazine during that month.

6 March, the association received a delegation from the city of Stains. The visit to the old city was impossible due to rains which covered a huge part of the city.

8 March, we met the association of Sharek in order to determine the common actions with the adolescents about the theme of the heritage and the environment.         

31 March, Anwar and Chantal Abu Eisheh received and piloted a delegation of “Médecins du Monde Suisse” . During their visit to the old city, they discussed a project in the old city for the team of MDM to organize workshops for parental guidance.

 

Alternative tourism/ heritage

During these three months, we have received 307 visitors, individuals and groups. We housed 8 persons in Palestinian families.

A new training of 15 touristic-guides, the majority of whom are females, began at the end of January. Several intervenants from outside: gave lectures on the environment, fauna and flora, political situation. History courses, archeology and heritage of the old city were given by Sandrine Geith.

15-16 march, an international scientific meeting, entitled ''architect development in Palestine'', took place at ''Normal superior school''(Paris). Sandrine was invited to present ''the heritage of Hebron'' (The old city, archeological sites, handcrafts….). The problems related to the Israeli occupation and the lack of awareness of population were also discussed. Numerous exchanges, debates and contacts were fruitful. The documents of this conference will be soon published.

The program,'' awareness of youth towards the and the environment'', supported in 2011 by UE continued in 2012 thanks to the CCFD, started at the middle of March with the organization, for girls' classes, for 2 workshops and 2. Trips. In total, 7 pedagogical workshops and educational trips for the spring. More than 200 kids (12-14) of the area H2 will be concerned.

The association, in cooperation with TIPH, started a cleaning campaign with 7 classes of the H2 area. On the list (April-may): a cleaning competition of school sideways, awareness of residents, a painting competition (impression on 1000 bags in fabric which will be distributed to old city residents). The winning class will be going for a day out to Akka

Following to the project of re-updating the touristic guide in French and, in need to the evaluation of new touristic sites, many members of the association did a prospecting in archeological sites (Khirbeet Tawas) and three other ancient villages (Dhariyeh, Rabud, Yatta).

   

Events to come:

26 may at the evening: the fourth euro-Palestinian football match in Jericho organized by the Palestinian federation of sports for All.  The invitation is for all.

7 October: at al Quds university, the fourth international competition of pleadings on the human rights.

20 October, we will celebrate the 15 anniversary of the association and the fifth anniversary of the alternative tourism program in Hebron.
